Rev. Arthur James Collier III, 63, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Bethel M.B. Church, Tallahassee. A Wake will be Friday, June 2, from 4-6 p.m. at Bethel. Born in Washington, DC, Rev. Collier grew up in Tallahassee and was a 1977 graduate of Amos P. Godby High School. He earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Florida A&M University and a Master of Divinity degree from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology, Virginia Union University, Richmond, VA. After completing his pharmacy degree, he worked as a pharmcist for over 40 years in numerous capacities in Florida and Virginia. A dedicated servant of God, Rev. Collier served as a pastor, associate minister, and held several other leadership roles in Virginia, Florida and nationally. He currently served as the Associate Minister and Minister of Christian Education at the North Gayton Baptist Church, Richmond, VA. He is survived by his wife of over 41 years, Renita Sheffield Collier; sons: Jarrod Collier (Stephanie) and Thornton Collier; three grandchildren (Brandon, Mason and Saxton); siblings: Reggie Stewart, Jacquelyn Harris (Daryl), Avis and Brian Collier; several nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Rev. Dr. Arthur J. Collier, Jr., Dr. Jacquelyn L. Collier-Pembroke and brother, Joel Collier.
