It is with loving remembrance, we announce the passing of
Mrs. Bernice A. Vaughn
, age 92, of Monticello, Florida, who departed this earthly life on Friday, April 3, 2026, in Atlanta, GA.
Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2026, at Mt. Ararat AME Church, 167 Floyd Allen Road, Monticello, FL 32344.
Home Going Services will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Mt. Ararat AME Church, 167 Floyd Allen Road, Monticello, FL 32344, with the Interment to follow in the Mt. Ararat AME Church Cemetery.
Sister Bernice Allen Vaughn was born in Waukeenah, Florida on September 3, 1933 to Joseph and Ola Allen. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings Willie Mae Williams, Hattie Nealy, Dorothy Watson, Beatrice Glenn, Mary Morris, Mattie Thompson, Mae Ola Mosley, Addie Slav, Arthur Allen and David Allen.
Sister Bernice attended the public schools of Jefferson County and following Middle School in Jefferson County she transferred to the Old Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Florida, where she graduated in May 1951. She attended Florida A & M University (FAMU) for two years.
Sister Bernice was employed by the Jefferson County School System for thirty-five years as an Instructional Aide. She also worked in Chicago, Illinois, for ten summers with her sister at Dearborn Wholesale Store.
Sister Bernice accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a lifelong member of Mt. Ararat African Methodist Episcopal Church-Waukeenah. She served as the Church Secretary, a Steward, and Chair of the Pastor's Aid Board.
At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of this church. Sister Bernice transitioned from labor to reward on Good Friday, April 03, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia, at the home of her daughter.
She leaves memories to be shared by her children: Donald (Joyce) Vaughn, Chicago, IL, Byron (Barbara Jackson) Vaughn, Tallahassee, FL and Renea Walker of Atlanta GA; grandson: Tyler Jackson; great-grandchildren: Kendall and Kharias Jackson; bonus grandchildren: Cassandra Grissom and LaDaron Garland; sister: Louise Allen King; godchildren: Darlene King, Valisa Conner and Markus Knight; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Vaughn and to serve the Vaughn Family.
