Betty Jean Hightower Gilley, 74, of Monticello passed at home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at St. Phillip AME Church, Monticello, with burial in the Church Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 4-6 p.m. Friday at St. Phillip. TILLMAN OF MONTICELLO (850-997-5553) is serving the Hightower-Gilley family. Betty was a 1968 graduate of Howard Academy High School. She married her classmate, Dan Gilley, who preceded her in death. She was a lifelong member of St. Phillip, where she was a leading member of the Senior Choir. Cherishing precious memories are her daughter, Lesley Gilley (William) Waters; grandson, Jaylin Gilley; brother, John (Ada) Hightower; sisters: Dorothy Plummer, Mary Ingram, Lenora (Henry Sr.) Wiggins and Bernice Hightower; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
