Bettye Jean Stokes, 77, of Tallahassee passed on Friday, June 28, 2024. Funeral services are 12 noon, Saturday, July 6, at St. Mary P.B. Church (Call Street), with burial in Southside Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 4-6 p.m. Friday at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE (850-942-1950). A graduate of the original Lincoln High School, Bettye completed secretarial studies at Lively Vocational Technical School. She was a retired Senior Secretary and had lived in Buffalo, NY, working at Buffalo General Hospital for many years. She had worked at FAMU and FSU after moving from New York. Bettye loved cats, outdoors and interacting with people. Survivors include her sister, Elizabeth White; great niece and caregiver, Tracy Manner; special great nephew, Kevin (Angela) Dees; and numerous other relatives and friends.
