Calvin Vernard Dawson, 61, of Tallahassee passed unexpectedly on Monday, April 10, 2023. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday (Tomorrow) at New Mt. Zion Moody Baptist Church, Crawfordville, with burial at 1:00 p.m. in the Tallahassee National Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 4-6 p.m. Thursday (Today) at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE (850-942-1950). Calvin served honorably in the United States Army, 1979-1985, and was awarded the Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Dawson; son: Cornelius Dawson-Morris; step-sons: David (Utila) Arnett and Benjamin Armstead; step-daughters: Katina, Shamika and Nicole (Andrea) Arnett; 16 step-grandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren; sisters: Pastor Sharon (Apostle T.J.) Durig, Dr. Deborah (Dana Sr.) Barnes and Angela (Donald Sr.) Denson; adopted sister, Cynthia (Virgil) Johnson; caregiver-nephew, Avery McClenton; and numerous other relatives and friends.
