It is with heartfelt sympathy, we announce the passing of Ms. Carolyn R. Bailey, 74, of Tallahassee, Florida, who departed this earthly life on Monday, June 15, 2026.

Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 26, 2026, at the TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE CHAPEL (850-942-1950).

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Friendship Primitive Baptist Church, 700 Putnam Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32301.

Ms. Carolyn Ruth Bailey

Carolyn Ruth Bailey entered this world with a spark that never truly faded. Born on February 16, 1952, in Brockton, Massachusetts, she spent her life weaving warmth, laughter, and rhythm into the lives of everyone she knew. From the very beginning, she possessed a kind heart, a warm spirit, and a smile that could brighten any room. Throughout her life she touched countless people with her compassion, generosity, and ability to make others feel welcomed and loved.

Carolyn was a dedicated and hardworking woman. For much of her adult life, she worked as a typist, taking pride in her work and the responsibilities she carried. As a mother, she was determined to provide for her family and often worked two jobs to ensure her family had what they needed. Her strength, perseverance, and work ethic were examples that continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

Beyond her work, Carolyn found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved to laugh, dance, and sing along to her favorite songs. Music seemed to follow her wherever she went, and if a good song came on, there was a good chance she would be moving and grooving to the rhythm. Her favorite color was yellow, a fitting reflection of the sunshine she brought into the lives of others. She also had a special love for roses and tulips; flowers whose beauty and grace mirrored her own gentle nature.

Carolyn loved to travel and often spoke of her dream of one day exploring the county in a RV, taking in new sights, meeting new people, and enjoying the freedom of the open road. While she never had the opportunity to fulfill that dream, her adventurous spirit and curiosity about the world never faded. She also loved spending time at the beach with her family, finding joy in the sound of the waves, the warmth of the sun, and the memories made together. Though the Florida sun often left her looking more like a cooked crab than a relaxed beach goer, she never let that stop her from enjoying the day. She loved the beach, even if the sun didn’t always love her back.

While life did not allow her to visit every place she hoped to see, she leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a spirit of adventure that will continue to inspire those who loved her.

Carolyn was gifted with creative hands and a generous heart. She spent many hours crocheting blankets, keepsakes, and handmade treasures for family and friends. Each stitch was a reflection of the love and care she poured into everything she did. Her creations will remain cherished reminders of her warmth and thoughtfulness for years to come.

Family was at the center of Carolyn’s life. She was the proud mother of three children and treasured every opportunity to spend time with those she loved. Her legacy lives on through the lessons she taught, the memories she created, and the love she shared so freely.

In her later years, Carolyn faced Alzheimer’s disease with remarkable courage and dignity. Though the disease challenged her in many ways, it never diminished the kindness, strength, and love that defined her character. She remained a source of inspiration to her family until her passing on Monday, June 15, 2026.

Carolyn leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, laughter and compassion that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Carolyn is survived by her children: Jaimie Finn and Denise Northern; grandchildren: Jabari Robinson, Jasmin Thomas and Zymaria Baker; mother: Lois Christie; sister: Teresa Garnder; niece: Heather Burton; and a host of other relatives and loving friends. She is preceded in death by her husband: Robert Bailey; infant son; father: Benard McPhillips and stepfather: Frank Christie. As Carolyn is greeting with open arms of the friends and family, we know that she continues on her dance in our hearts forever.

It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Ms. Bailey and to serve the Bailey family.
