Casey Bernard Clary, Sr., affectionately known as "The Minister of Music," was born on May 30, 1958, to the late Agnes Wilson and Lester Clary. A lifelong resident of the Tallahassee and Woodville communities, Casey lived a life marked by faith, family, music, and service.

He was educated in the Leon County School System and graduated from Leon High School in 1976. Even before graduating, Casey began working at Brown's Paint and Body Shop, where his exceptional skill as a paint and body technician quickly became well known. So precise was his work that he left his thumb print as his personal signature beneath the hood of each car he painted. His craftsmanship drew customers from near and far, and his love for cars and motorcycles was unmatched.

While cars were his passion, music was his ministry. Whether spinning records at the Salt and Pepper Club in Woodville or creating rhythms on his drum machine early Sunday mornings before church, Casey poured his heart and soul into every note.

Baptized at an early age, Casey was a devoted and faithful Christian whose love for the Lord never wavered. In 1990, he founded The Burden Lifters. He served faithfully as a musician at East Grove Missionary Baptist Church for more than 35 years and later united with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.

Above all, Casey was a devoted family man. He loved his children deeply, and his joy multiplied with the birth of his grandchildren and great-grandchild, whom he proudly spoke of often.

On Saturday, December 13, at 9:25AM, God called Casey home, whispering, "Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have played and sung your last song. Come and go with Me."

He was preceded in death by his son, Casey Tavares Clary; his mother, Agnes Brown; his stepfather, Johnny Brown; his father and stepmother, Lester and Rose Clary; his sisters, Mary Alice Kitchen and Maggie Dillard Clary; his brothers, Willie Kitchen and James Clary; and his nephew, Anthony Ward.

His music, love, and legacy, will forever live on in the ones who cherished him. Daughters Shakenya Clary and Sierra Sims; his sons, Marcono Clary and AeRi'ell Levi D. Clary (Lil' Casey Jr.); three granddaughters, Aryana Wesley, A'Niya Wesley, and Serenity Sims; one grandson, Amaris Sims; and one great-granddaughter, Naiori Bates, all of Tallahassee, Florida. Also cherishing his memory are his bonus daughters, Leslie Steele (Midway, FL), April Tucker (Tampa, FL), and Keva Nelson (Tallahassee, FL); and bonus son, Justin Sims (Tallahassee, FL). He is also survived by his brothers: Tommy Clary (Bennie) of Tallahassee, FL; Reverend Norman Clary (Joyce) of Boston, GA; Robert Clary and John Clary of St. Petersburg, FL; his godchildren, Maurice Anderson, Shereka Everette, and Tanza Thompson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

It is our profound honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Clary and to serve the Clary Family.
