It is with heartfelt sympathy, we announce the passing of Mr. Charles E. Dickey, 71, of Quincy, Florida, who departed this earthly life on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2026, at the TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE CHAPEL (850-942-1950).

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. Phillip AME Church, 8 Phillips Road, Monticello, FL 32344, with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.

In Loving Remembrance of Our Beloved

Charles Edward Dickey

Charles Edward Dickey was born April 29, 1955, in Tallahassee, Florida, to Franklin Dickey, Sr. and Fay Lee Jones Dickey. Charles was the second of five children, and the first of the five to pass. He was preceded in death by his daughter, April Dickey; and his mother, Fay Lee Jones Dickey.

Charles was employed with the City of Tallahassee for 35 years. He was a Foreman II in Facilities, assigned to the Department of Parks and Recreation. A devoted member of St. Phillip African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, he faithfully served in several ministries. He sang in the Men’s Choir, was a member of the Sons of Allen, and he also served as a Steward and a member of the gospel group, the Spiritual Messengers. Charles’ passion was cooking and fishing. He was regarded as a master of grilling. For several years, he also had operated a successful catering enterprise.

Charles enjoyed telling jokes, watching western television shows, fishing on the lake, and hunting deer. He believed wealth was not measured by material possessions, but by how much one helps others in need.

On May 14, 1994, he married the former Marilyn Plummer, and from this marriage he gained four children: Tawana (Harry) James, Anthony T. Plummer (deceased), Chadwick D. (Veronica) Plummer, and Danielle Harris. Other than his wife, children, eight grandchildren, and his father, Charles is also survived by his siblings: Franklin (Allease) Dickey, Jr., Harry Joe Dickey, Sandra Dickey, and Janice McKinney; mother-in-law: Dorothy Plummer; eight sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and loving friends.

It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Dickey and to serve the Dickey family.
