James Harris, Sr., 71, of Tallahassee passed on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Funeral services are 12 noon Thursday, April 10 at the Old West Enrichment Center, with burial at 2:00 p.m. in the Tallahassee National Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at Shay Grove PBC #1 at 1478 Chaires Crossroads, Tallahassee Florida . A Tallahassee native, Mr. Harris was a U.S. Army Veteran and a retired Pipefitter for Florida A&M University. A Deacon at Shady Grove P.B. Church # 1, he served in the Hospitality (Food) and Finance Ministries. He was an avid fisherman and cook. Treasuring his love and legacy are his devoted wife, Zimmie Rispress Harris; son, James Harris, Jr.; daughters: Allena and Shenika Harris; grandchildren: Abrielle and Caleb Ammons; several godchildren; brothers: Harry Brown, Charlie, Nathaniel (Nona) and Tony (Paula) Harris; sister, Everlena Baulkmon; aunt, Gail Brown; sisters-in-law: Sharon Griffin and Sandy Rispress (Ray) Gardner; brothers-in-law: Joseph and Randolph (Ruby) Rispress; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding James in death were his parents, William Harris, Sr. and Rutha Mae Brown Harris; brothers: William Jr. and Wilbert Harris; sisters: Catherine Spratt and Hazel McGuire; aunt, Verneda "Honey" Thompson and sister-in-law, JoAnn Rispress.
