It is with sincere respect, we announce the passing of Deacon C.J. "PIG" Johnson, Sr. , 85, of Monticello, FL.
Homegoing Services for Deacon C.J. Johnson will be 12:00PM, Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Mt. Pleasant Ministries (Capps), 9472 S Jefferson, Lamont, FL 32344. Interment will follow in the Boland Community Cemetery.
Viewing-visitation will be 4:00PM-6:00PM, Friday, December 12, 2025, at the TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE CHAPEL (850-942-1950) .
Deacon C.J. Johnson, Sr., who was lovingly known as "Pig", was born August 23, 1940, to Nellie Walker in Monticello, Florida. He was the eldest of nine children.
C.J. received his education in the Jefferson County Public School System. From the beginning, he accepted Christ at an early age; he was baptized and joined New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served on the Deacon Ministry and in the choir. His favorite song to sing was "Write my name on the Roll".
Deacon C.J. was employed with Jack Culpepper Construction, Maple's Concrete, and Leon County Public Works for many years until his retirement. Regardless of his role and/or tasks, C.J. was a hardworking and determined individual; he gave his all in everything he did. He was always striving for a better future for his family and those around him.
He liked to fish, watch westerns on television, play the guitar and loved music. C.J. was an avid Florida Gator's fan. He had a compassionate heart, and he loved his family tremendously. In addition to his love for family, C.J. loved to operate heavy equipment. He was relentless at helping family and friends, sometimes sacrificing his own comfort to ensure others has what they needed.
In addition to his parent, C.J. was preceded in death by his grandson, Dontae' Plummer; great granddaughter, Rhylee Petty; siblings, David King, Lessie Walker, and Sam Johnson, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children: Debra (Terry) Plummer, C.J. (Patricia) Johnson, Jr., Lorene Johnson, Melissa Mills and Bessie Johnson; grandchildren: Tanika (Julius), Jamillah, Shanese, Bre'Shonte, Jasmine, Chontavia, Kaitlyn, Milena, Ahmad, LaTasha, Ciara and Darius; great-grandchildren: Octavius Jr., G'Yanni, Tae'Shaun, Jaylee, Jeromih, Jer'Zhani, Jhayla, CHarlie, Simone and Wynter; goddaughter: A'Mazing Footman; former wife/companion: Bettye Johnson; a host of siblings, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
It is our profound honor to have been entrusted with the care of Deacon Johnson and to serve the Johnson Family.
