It is with profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Deacon Ball Meeks, Jr. , age 88, of Tallahassee, Florida, who departed this earthly life on Friday, May 8, 2026.

Homegoing Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Watson Temple Institutional COGIC, 665 W. Brevard Street, Tallahassee, FL 32304, with the interment to follow in Bethel Cemetery, 1470 Bethel Church Road, Tallahassee, FL 32304.

Viewing-visitation will be 1 hour prior to Homegoing Services.

Deacon Ball Meeks, Jr. , the fourth child of Ball Meeks, Sr. and Rebecca Brinson Meeks, was born on Friday, December 31, 1937, in Leon County, Florida. Both of his parents preceded him in death.

Deacon Meeks served faithfully as a deacon at Watson Temple Institutional Church of God in Christ for 47 years. He was a man of God who loved God and cherished his family. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, cooking on the grill and working in his yard, which he kept immaculate. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Deacon Meeks was employed for twelve years at a trucking company in Englewood, New Jersey prior to relocating to Tallahassee, Florida and worked for twenty years in landscaping at Florida State University (FSU).

Deacon Meeks leaves to cherish his precious memories to a loving and devoted wife of 67 years: Mother Ruth P. Meeks; three sons: Arthur L. (Ida) Meeks of South Carolina, Harold M. (Carmen) Meeks, Miami, FL and Steven E. (Jackie) Meeks of Tallahassee, FL; daughter: Pastor Sandra M. Tynes of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren: Natasha L. (Alfaneen and three children) Sledge, Arthur C. (Keisha and three children) Meeks, Myeesha Meeks (Drayson and three children) Taylor, Anthony (Trulee) Meeks, Tiffany M. Roberts and two children, Brandy A. Tynes and three children, Harold Meeks, Jr. and one child, Andres Meeks, Mariella Meeks, Randall Meeks, Zaria Meeks and Zachary Meeks; 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Fred (Judy) Meeks, Lake Wales, FL, Herdon (Patricia) Meeks, Bartow, FL and Hayward Williams of McDonough, GA; three sisters: Hattie Mae Meeks Sloan, Tallahassee, FL, Amanda Meeks Isacc, McDonough, GA and Everlena Meeks Collins of Tallahassee, FL; two brothers-in-law: Arthur (Ann) Pearson and General Lee Pearson, both of South Carolina; sister-in-law: Barbara Jean McFarlane of Bogota, New Jersey; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
