One of few surviving World War II Veterans, U.S. Navy Veteran Dennis Gallon,100, passed at his home in Monticello, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 13, at Greater Fellowship M.B. Church, Monticello. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:00p.m. in the Tallahassee National Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Philadelphia AME Church, Monticello. Mr. Gallon was drafted into the U.S. Navy at age 19. He was an accomplished farmer; he and his family were awarded "Farm Family of the Year" several times during the height of their vast farming operation. Active in his home church, Philadelphia AME, Mr. Gallon loved gospel singing and was a well-known talented vocalist. His love and legacy will live forever in the hearts of his sisters: Elizabeth G. McGhee, Dorothy G. Holmes and Emma G. Collins; brothers: James (Pearlean), Archie and Washington (Bessie) Gallon; sisters-in-law: Etta Mae Gallon and Tracey Gallon; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
