Chief Warrant Officer 3 (Retired) Elmer Ash, 84, of Tallahassee, FL went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 16, 2025. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 30, at Metropolitan Cathedral of Truth, 1110 Rich Bay Road, Havana, FL. Interment, with full military honors will be 1:00 p.m. in the Tallahassee National Cemetery. At Elmer's request, there will be no public viewing. Elmer served in active duty status in the United States Army for 27 years. He received countless awards, including the Service Parachutist Badge, Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), Vietnam Service Medal W/4 Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Three Purple Hearts, along with several honors and awards. During his career, he completed 255 parachute jumps with the 82nd Airborne Division - Green Berets. He and his wife were proprietors of "First Steps School and Sankofa Academy" for 30 years in Atlanta. Elmer was an avid golfer who loved baseball, softball, racing cars and being with his family, especially his brothers. Treasuring his legacy and love are his devoted wife, Ruth Yvonne Barrington Ash; daughter, Yolanda Ash; sons, Zavier and Toland Ash; 8 grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother, Jesse (Yolanda) Ash; sisters-in-law, Freddie, Rene` and Barbara Ash and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His siblings Charlie Jr., Bernish, John and Tony Ash, Bertha Ash Bruce and Pauline Abernathy all preceded him in death.
