Elmore Harris
It is with utmost respect, we announce the passing of Mr. Elmore Harris , age 86, of Tallahassee, Florida, who departed his earthly life on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2026, at the TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE CHAPEL (850-942-1950) .
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Concord A.M.E. Church, 6658 Veterans Memorial Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32309, with the Interment to follow in Concord A.M.E Church Cemetery, 16998 Old Ro Co Co Road, Tallahassee, FL 32309.
Elmore Harris was born in Tallahassee, Florida on January 13, 1940. He was the son of Joe Harris Sr. and Pearlie Harris, both who preceded Elmore in death.
Elmore grew up in a community off Jackson Bluff Road, Tallahassee. Mr. Harris worked as a mechanic and would later become a professional truck driver for over 50 years both OTR (over the road, state to state) and local.
Elmore would also drive from community to community throughout the city of Tallahassee selling sweet watermelons and doing concrete work such as pouring driveways and building sheds as a side job before retiring from CEMEX Inc.
A true family man, Elmore loved his wife, the now-late Eva Jean Harris, as well as his children. He served faithfully as a member of Concord African Methodist Episcopal Church under Reverend Gwendolyn Carroll-Simmons. When Mr. Harris couldn't make it to church, the church came to his home with praise and worship, which caused Mr. Harris to rise up out the state he was in and began to glorify God.
On Saturday, March 28, 2026, with outstretched arms, the Lord welcomed Home His son, Elmore Harris, for his eternal rest. Left to cherish his memories are his children: Eric (Kay Michelle) Harris, Ashley Harris and Deborah Jackson; grandchildren: Jarvis Fagon, Haileigh, Jayla, Erica, Crusadia and Elijah Harris, Jayden Smart, Iyanna Smart and Logan Ray; stepchildren: April and Michael Burgess; brother: Albert Harris Sr.; sisters: Sarah (Lamar) Barnes and Rebecca (Howard) Gipson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Harris and to serve the Harris Family.
