U.S. Army Sgt. First Class (Ret) Emma Lee Hicks, 72, passed in Tallahassee on Sunday, May 4, 2025. Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. SUNDAY, May 11, at the TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE CHAPEL (850-942-1950). Viewing-visitation is 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Tillman's. Burial, with full military honors will be 12 noon Monday at the Tallahassee National Cemetery. Sgt. Hicks was born in Blakely, GA, and served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, attaining the rank of E-7. Her career highlights included serving as an Attache` for then Vice President George W. Bush, a Drill Sgt. and receiving numerous honors and awards. Emma loved music, dance, food, travel and family. Treasuring her love are her husband, Harry Lett; sons: Jacques, Fredrick and Jesse Hicks; siblings: Evelyn Hamilton, Mary Foster, Margaret Reaves, Priscilla Richardson, Linda Smith, Wilfred Stringer, Ulysee Boozie, Milton and Craig Davis; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
