Emma , the beloved daughter of Mr. Elijah and Mrs. Julia Moore was born September 7, 1944, in Leon County Florida. Emma was family-oriented and closely involved in the lives of her family. She was a loving mother, devoted sister, affectionate grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Because of her unconditional love, support and sacrifice for everyone during their times of sickness and health, good and bad times, it exemplified what agape love looks like.
Emma was a woman of faith. Earlier in her life, she chose to be a follower of Jesus Christ. She was baptized and joined Galilee P.B. Church and later in her life she joined and became a member of Saint Paul AME Church. She attended Leon County Schools and worked many years at North Florida Christian School where she retired.
Emma was a compassionate person with a loving spirit that allowed her to relate to others across generations. She had an infectious smile but could also be straight forward with her responses. She spoke with wisdom and was very uplifting with her daily text messages of encouragement, faith, and love that she sent out to her family and friends.
On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, the Almighty God in His own way and His own purpose, dispatched an angel from heaven and in a blink of an eye, Emma Lee Moore Worthey was called into His kingdom to receive her reward.
Emma is preceded in death by her husband, the late Johnny Worthey Sr.; Two children, Gwendolyn Rhodes and Tony Worthey; sisters, Louise, Luella, Christina, Essie Mae, Sallie Ann, Alice, Elijah Lee and Mattie.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories and celebrate her love, children Roy Moore (Debra) and Johnny Worthey Jr. of Tallahassee Florida. A sister, Virgina Moore of Jacksonville Florida, a brother, Eddie James Moore of Tallahassee Florida. Along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, also other relatives and loving friends whom she loved dearly.
It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Ms. Worthey and to serve the Worthey Family.
