Essie Mae Gallon Alexander, 84, of Monticello, FL went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Homegoing services are 12 noon Friday, (Tomorrow), January 31, at New Bethel AME Church, Monticello, with burial in the Church Cemetery. Viewing is 4-6 p.m. at TILLMAN OF MONTICELLO (850-997-5553). Mrs. Alexander and her husband, David Alexander, Sr., would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in April. She was a superb cook and a member of the Hospitality Committee at New Bethel, where she had also been an Usher and Stewardess. She also had been a member of Life Deliverance Ministries. She loved singing, cooking and gardening. Survivors include her husband, David Sr.; sons: David Alexander, Jr. and Robert (Velda) Alexander; daughters: Virgie Marie Alexander and Carol (Darryl) Hall; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers: Eddie (Betty) and Theodore Gallon; sisters: Mary Feacher, Louise Gallon and Sadie Thomas; surrogate mother, Mary Jones; two "special children": Timothy (Martha) Jones and Brenda (Byron) Whitaker; and numerous other relatives and friends.
