Evelena Pleas was the daughter of Will Pleas and Fannie Miller Forbes Pleas. She was born in Jefferson County (Lloyd), Florida on December 1, 1955. Evelena was preceded in death by her parents; her sons: Jonathan and Antwan Pleas; granddaughter: Lakayshia Fletcher; siblings: Otis Pledge, Leroy Pledge, William Pleas, Roosevelt Pleas, Wallace "Papa" Pleas, Alamo Pleas, Leola Pledge, Millie Davis, Pennie Miller, and Mamie Pleas.

Lovingly known as "Elb" by family and friends, Evelena grew up in the Lloyd Community of western Jefferson County. She attended the public schools of Jefferson County and entered the workforce early in life and for most of her career, she worked in horticulture. She was highly respected and regarded as an expert nurseryman as well a talented softball player. She also worked seasonally as a detailer in car cleaning. "Elb" was known for her humor, enthusiasm and stern but giving spirit. She was always intricately involved in helping to facilitate family gatherings. She was always one of the first to arrive (to help set up) and one of the last to leave (helping to clean up).

"Elb" confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior many years ago. She served as a member of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, in Lloyd, where she was an usher. On Sunday, October 13, 2024, God summoned Evelena Home for her eternal rest. Her love and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of her sons: Keith (Tawanna) Pleas, Tony (Candace) Pleas, Michael (Yurakadesia Demouse) Pleas, Kendrick Bouie, Ra'heim Bouie, Darius Pleas; 11 grandchildren; Laketra, Alicia, Michael, Jr., Mikah, Miles, Malachi, Tykeria, Kierra, TyKia, Tyti'Yanna Pleas and Jhnaecia Bouie; 8 great grandchildren, sisters: Ethel Pleas Jones, Hester Copeland, Catherine (Rev. Eddie) Lynn, and Evangelist Charlotte Bouie; brothers: Charlie "Shoot" Pleas, Sr., Henry "Chester" Pleas, Freddie Lee Pleas, Sr., and Sammie (Sue) Bouie, Sr.; sister-in-law: Charity Jones Mosley; special friends: Valeria "Poochie" Lynn-Dajani, Candace Jefferson, Ruby Dennis, Angie Abubakar, Lee (Lisa) Colson, Vonda Murray, Rosa Lee Walker, Cassandra Forbes, Mary Dove, Frazier Smith, Robert "DJ Disco" Fryson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Evelena was also preceded in death by her aunts and uncles: Margie Pleas Hampton, Wallace Pleas, Lucy Pleas Carr, Fannie Pleas Speed, Leola Pleas Colson, Annie Pleas Reid, Willie Mae Bell Jordan, Pennie Lee Franklin Young, Margie Pleas "Piggy" James, William Pleas, Jr., and Henry Pleas.

A celebration of life will take place on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Greater Elizabeth M.B. Church, 192 Greater Elizabeth Rd, Monticello (Lloyd Community), FL with a repast to follow at Barrington (Lloyd Baseball) Field.
