Evelyn Bonzell Bradham Madison was born on March 25, 1939 to Annis Bradham and Abraham Evans in Sopchoppy, Florida. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Gwendolyn Brown Murphy and Carla Madison; son, Kent Madison; parents, Annis Bradham and Abraham Evans; sisters, Ethel Costin and Alice Allen; brothers, Eddie Costin and Otis Wilson; and favorite aunt, Ollie Lou Ash.
Evelyn attended Buckhorn School in Sopchoppy. She married Laurie Madison, Jr., and to their union, six children were born. Evelyn worked as a supervisory cook at Florida State University's Osceola Hall where she retired after 47 years of dedicated service.
Mother Madison confessed Christ as her personal Lord and Savior was baptized at an early age. Evelyn joined St. Mary Primitive Baptist Church on Georgia Street where she was a church mother and served until her passing.
On Tuesday, April 21, 2020, God Almighty summoned His servant, Mother Evelyn Madison Home for her eternal rest. Forever cherishing her love and legacy are her two sons: Laurie (Barbara) Madison III and Lester "Randy" Madison; one daughter: Cynthia (Paul) Marcus; eight grandchildren she raised as her children: Marrio Brown, Laurie IV, Kenyante and her baby, Journey, Kent, Brian, Lester Jr., Lamika and Xzavier Madison; 11 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; sister: Jennifer Wilson; godson: Dexter Bradham; three devoted cousins: Geraldine, Charlotte and Louise; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
