Mrs. Gertrude Scott Gaines, 85, of Tallahassee passed on Friday, May 30, 2025, her birthday. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at Bethel AME Church, Tallahassee, with interment in Southside Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 4-6 p.m. Friday at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE (850-942-1950). A Quincy native, Mrs. Gaines was the widow of Seth Gaines and the last survivor of her siblings. She was a retired Office Assistant with the Florida Department of Transportation. A longtime member of Bethel, she served as a Care Leader and member of Stewardess Board # 1. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles and baking. Survivors include her daughter, Anita Anderson; sons: Arthur Scott and Eric Hatcher; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her daughter, Dr. Linda Knight preceded her in death.
