Gloria Yvonne Dixon, affectionately known as "Babysister", was born in Lithonia, Georgia on August 24, 1961. She departed this life on September 8, 2020 while resting in her bed at home after a long and courageous bout with ovarian cancer. Gloria was born to the late James Dixon and the late Pearlie Hall.
Gloria moved to Tallahassee at a very young age. She was educated in the public schools of Leon County. After high school, Gloria experimented with different jobs. She successfully mastered whatever she put her hands to do. Wherever Gloria "Babysister" was employed, people fell in love with her and were inspired by her work ethics and sense of humor. She really blossomed as a cake decorator at Publix Super Market. Gloria was widely known for her awesome ability to decorate all sorts of cakes.
Gloria "Babysister" was also known for her ability entertain and make people laugh by telling jokes, singing, dancing, or imitating people in a fun way. She was the life of a party or any other event! But more importantly, Gloria transitioned that same level of charisma and energy into her spiritual life. She loved serving and praising God. Whether singing, shouting, colliding tambourines, beating drums, visiting convalescent homes, feeding homeless people, or preaching God's Holy Word, Gloria withheld nothing from praising her God!
Left to share Gloria's precious memories are her two sons: LaRico (Katronda) Dixon and Quashawn Dixon; grandchildren: Sedriana Hudson and LaRicia Dixon, both of Tallahassee, FL and Jayden Tucker of Atlanta GA; one brother: Anthony (Stacye) Hall; one sister: Kathy Dixon; two goddaughters: Jonishia Whitaker and Annette Cruse, all of Tallahassee, FL. Also left to share Gloria's precious memories are a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives, friends, and many other love ones.
