It is with loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Mrs. Gloria Sanders , 73, of Havana, Florida, who departed this life on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
Homegoing services for Mrs. Gloria Sanders will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2026, at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 311 1st Street SE, Havana, Florida 32333, with the interment concluding in Barber Cemetery (Concord Bainbridge Road).
Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2026, at the TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE CHAPEL (850-942-1950).
Gloria Annette Johnson Sanders was born on July 8, 1952, to the late Willie G. Johnson and Velma Lou Reed in Havana, Florida. She attended Gadsden County Schools and graduated from Northside High School, Class of 1970. At an early age, Gloria accepted Christ as her Savior and remained devoted to her faith throughout her life. She held membership at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Havana, FL, 12th Street Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan, and New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Havana, Florida.
In 1974, Gloria met the love of her life, Terry Sanders. They were married in 1977 and made their home in Detroit, Michigan. Their 39 years of marriage were filled with love, travel, movie nights, and joyful gatherings with family and friends. Following retirement, Gloria and Terry returned to Havana, Florida, near the Florida-Georgia border.
Gloria attended Highland Park Community College in Highland Park, Michigan, where she earned associate degrees in Fine Arts and Medical Assisting. She enjoyed a distinguished career marked by dedication and leadership and retired after many years of service as a Personal Banker with National City Bank. In her leisure time, Gloria found joy in sewing and cooking and was always willing to lend her talents to family and friends. She also had a love for shoes and purses, taking pride in her personal style.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Brenda Wade of Detroit, Michigan; her son, Reshod Sanders (Alicia) of Southfield, Michigan; six grandchildren-James Shaw, Theron Holmes, Jr., and Rashaunda Rogers of Detroit, Michigan; Warren Turner, Blake Sanders, and Ayden Sanders of Southfield, Michigan; and two great-grandsons, Raquan Rogers and Messiah Harris of Detroit, Michigan.
She is also survived by her five sisters Sylvia Burnett (Ronald) and Vanessa Roberts of Tallahassee, Florida; Geraldine Tyson of Powder Springs, Georgia; Gail Johnson Perry (Anthony) of Tampa, Florida; and Chandra Johnson of Tallahassee, Florida; and three brothers-Derrick Williams (Wisteria) of Loganville, Georgia; Otis Pease of Queens, New York; and Stevie Johnson (Renee) of Loganville, Georgia; uncle, Jesse Strawter (Betty) of Havana, Florida; Gloria will be fondly remembered by her step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, and especially her dear friend, Marjorie Thomas of Detroit, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her mother, Velma Reed, husband, Terry Sanders, and her stepson, Stevie Mango.
It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Sanders and to serve the Sanders Family.
