Obituary

It is with heartfelt sympathy, we announce the passing of Mr. Gregory R. Haynes , age 61, of Atlanta, Georgia, who departed this earthly life on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Barrow Hill Cemetery, 1474 Chaires Cross Road, Tallahassee, FL 32317.

Viewing will be two-hours prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Gregory Raynard Haynes was a beloved son, devoted father, proud grandfather, and cherished family member whose presence brought strength, laughter, and love to all who knew him.

Raised in Tallahassee, Florida, Gregory moved to Washington, DC during his teenage years and as an adult he moved to Atlanta, Georgia which was his home at the time of his passing.

Gregory was the son of Beatrice Hall Wilson (Chucky)and Nathaniel Haynes (who preceded him in passing). He leaves behind his daughter Atiya Haynes and granddaughter Aliya (Booka) Haynes. He was preceded in death by grandparents Mose and Beatrice Halland Lillian (Tang) Knight as well as his uncle Ezell "Hawk" Hall.

He was deeply connected to his extended family including his brother Raymond Haynes. Gregory leaves behind a loving circle of aunts, uncles, including Cordelia Leon, Mose "June Bug" Hall, and Pat Hall, as well as a host of cousins who were like siblings to him: Deborah Leon Farmer, Rhonda Leon Hicks, Karen Stroman, Mia Hall-Donald, Al Green. God-Mother Rose "Clack" Platt.

Gregory had a deep love for dancing, sports, camaraderie and going Viral on TikTok. He played softball with pride and earned the name "Thunder," forming friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime. He was also a passionate and loyal fan of Atlanta Braves, Florida State football and the Washington Commanders (Redskins), never missing an opportunity to cheer on his teams.

Beyond sports, Gregory had a well-known love for seafood and enjoyed sharing good meals and good times with those around him. His warmth, humor, and genuine spirit made him someone people gravitated toward.

It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Haynes and to serve the Haynes Family.
