In Loving Memory of Our Beloved
Mr. Henry Moore

Henry Moore was born on February 17, 1946, in Monticello, Florida to the late Tom and Carrie Moore. He passed away peacefully in Huntersville, NC on August 24, 2026.

Henry grew up working with his family as sharecroppers, building a lifelong foundation of hard work and perseverance. He attended Howard Academy High School where he was a star running back for the Bumblebees’ football team.

In December 1964, he married Barbara Cummings and moved to East Orange, NJ, welcoming five children, “Tommy”, “Timmy”, “Lisa”, “Lori”, and “Tony”.

Henry proudly served in the US Army from March 1966 - April 1968 as a combat engineer during the Vietnam War. His service and sacrifice earned him the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.

Following his honorable discharge, he began his career as a Police Officer in Newark, New Jersey for over 30 years. His years of service reflected his bravery, courage and discipline along with a life long dedication to protecting, serving and helping others.

In 1976, during America’s Bicentennial, Henry and Sheila met. They later married and welcomed two daughters, “Kira” and “Andee”. In 2013, they relocated to Concord, NC, where he remained an active and engaged father and grandfather. In May 2026, Henry and Sheila celebrated an extraordinary milestone of 50 years together.

A man of deep faith, Henry was baptized at Christ Temple Church Ministries under the pastorate of Dr. Denise Tolbert. He was loved, respected and cherished by many. He was a generous man that always looked out for others and was quiet, observant and thoughtful. He loved reading, doing crosswords, and cheering for the New York Giants and Knicks, and Florida sports teams. Above all, he cherished his family and made it a point to support them, celebrate their accomplishments and be present for important events.

He is preceded in death by sisters, Eva Mae Johnson, Loretta Moore, brother Eddie Singleton, and son, William (Tony) Moore.

He is survived by his wife Sheila; his six children; Henry Jr., Harold (Donetta) Moore, Tonyah Moore, Toyah (Louis) Konadu, Shakira Moore and Andrea Moore, Joanne Moore (daughter-in-law).
