It is with heartfelt sympathy, we announce the passing of Mr. Herman Simmons, Jr. , age 81, of Sopchoppy, Florida, who departed this earthly life on Monday, April 13, 2026.

Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2026, at the TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE CHAPEL (850-942-1950) .

Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Skipper Temple Church of Christ Written in Heaven, 165 Surf Road, Sopchoppy, FL 32358, with burial to follow in Buckhorn Cemetery, Allen-Green Road, Sopchoppy, FL 32358.

Herman Simmons, Jr. , was the oldest son of Herman Simmons, Sr. and Willie Mae Hines Simmons. He was born in Wakulla County, Florida on August 29, 1944. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Damon G. Simmons and Frank A. Simmons; and sisters: Mary A. Simmons and Martha Simmons-McBride.

Herman grew up in Wakulla County where he attended the public schools. He worked for McKenzie Tank Lines for over 40 years. He was married to the former Julia Mae Davis, who also preceded him in death. Herman was baptized at St. Nora Primitive Baptist Church in Sopchoppy, Florida. He enjoyed working on small engines and diesel engines.

Early this year, Herman faced some health challenges that restricted his mobility and on Monday, April 13, 2026, he went Home to be with the Lord. His love and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of his loving daughter: Latoya Harris; siblings: France Simmons; Archie, Sr. (Glenda) Simmons, Phyllis Simmons, Ronnie (Gwen) Simmons, Julia Mae Simmons-Skipper, Vertia Simmons and David J. Simmons; one uncle: Isaish Hines, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Simmons and to serve the Simmons Family.
