It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mrs. Jacquelyn Marie Morris Howard, 78, of Tallahassee, Florida, who departed this earthly life on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE CHAPEL (850-942-1950).

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 26, 2026, at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 615 Tuskegee Street, Tallahassee, Florida 32305.  The interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Tallahassee National Cemetery.

In Remembrance of Our Beloved

Mrs. Jacquelyn Marie Morris Howard

Jacquelyn "Jackie" Howard was born on July 25, 1947, in Mobile, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother and her loving husband, Freddie L. Howard. 

Jackie began her educational journey at Carter Parramore High School, graduating with the Class of 1964. Determined to continue building a meaningful future, she attended Lively Technical Community College, where she earned her Unit Secretary certification.

Jackie's dedication, professionalism, and compassionate spirit led her into a distinguished healthcare career spanning more than twenty-five years. Throughout her career, Jackie faithfully served at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, HealthSouth, and ultimately Tallahassee Community Hospital, where she retired after serving as a Monitor Technician, Unit Secretary, and Scheduling Coordinator. Through her work, she touched countless lives and earned the respect and admiration of both her colleagues and the patients she served.

Jackie married the love of her life, Freddie L. Howard, and together they built a home founded upon faith, love, and family. Under the guidance and blessings of the Lord, they raised five children, instilling in them the values of hard work, integrity, compassion, and devotion to family. Through this legacy, Jackie was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries forward a part of her spirit and influence. 

As a beloved member of the community, Jackie was actively involved with Mamie J. Strong Court #82, Order of Calanthe, and served as a Deaconess at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. She believed in in serving others and making a positive difference wherever she could. Her warm smile, kind heart, and willingness to help made her a friend to many and a blessing to all who knew her.

When she wasn't caring for others through her work or community involvement, Jackie enjoyed expressing  her creativity through sewing, baking, and, in later years, creating beautiful handmade jewelry. These hobbies brought her joy and allowed her to share her gifts with family and friends. Of all of her talents, however, her baking may be what many remember most fondly. Jackie was famous for her sweet potatoe pies - so famous, in fact, that whenever one was baking, word seemed to travel quickly throughout the neighborhood. The phone would ring non-stop. Cars would line the street. Family, friends, and neighbors would gather at the house, eagerly waiting for a taste. Some couldn't even wait for the pie to cool before requesting a slice. Her kitchen became a place of fellowship, laughter, conversation, and love. But beyond the pies, beyond the accomplishments, beyond the years of service, what people will remember most about Jackie is the love she shared. She was a woman who gave generously, cared deeply, and opened both her heart and her home to others. She understood that the greatest legacy a person can leave is not found in possessions, but in the lives they touch.

It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Howard and to serve the Howard family.
