Obituary

The oldest son of the now-late James and Odessa Forbes Green, JAMES WEST "JW" GREEN, JR. was born in Miccosukee, Florida on January 17, 1947. He attended Concord Elementary School and graduated from the old Lincoln High School, Class of 1965. After leaving high school, JAMES entered into the United States Army, where he served from December 1966 through November 1968. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1968, he went to live with his Aunt Ella Harris in Newburgh, New York. He resided in Newburgh for 45 years before returning to Florida.

JAMES was employed at the Ford Motor Company for 27.5 years. He later went on to work for West Point. He retired from West Point after being employed with them for 31 years. He also volunteered as a poll worker where he transported voters to the polls for several years.

"GREEN" , as he was known in Newburgh, New York, was an avid car racer. He enjoyed racing his orange Plymouth Road Runner. "GREEN" also enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was president of the "Gigolos" Motorcycle Club. You could hear him on the CB radio as the "Green Giant 426".

JAMES joined the Baptist Temple Church of Newburg, New York under the leadership of Reverend Byron Williams, Sr., where he worked diligently for the Lord and the Church. He was a dedicated member of the Church Choir and he was the maintenance supervisor for the Church. Upon retirement, he relocated to Tallahassee where he joined the Miccosukee Church of God of Prophecy under the leadership of Bishop Almando Mullings, where he was a dedicated member.

After seven years of dating, JAMES married the love of his life, Carolyn Ellis on August 16, 1986. To their union, two children were born. JAMES WEST GREEN, JR., "JW", 73 of Tallahassee, Florida, peacefully stepped into eternity on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Forever cherishing James' love and legacy are his loving wife of 34 years: Carolyn Ellis Green; three sons: James Robinson, New York City, NY, Jaquan and Jamel (Christina) Green, all of Newburgh, NY; three grandchildren; three sisters: Annie Ford and Patsie Green, both of Miccosukee, FL and Janice Greene of Monticello, FL; one brother: Lee Walter (Barbara) Green of Miccosukee, FL; four aunts: Ella Harris, Chesterfield, VA, Lallye Forbes, Miccosukee, FL, Amanda (Ollie) Johnson, Boynton Beach, FL and Helen Forbes of Miccosukee, FL; two uncles: France (Massota) Green and Albert (Edith) Green; one brother-in-law: Matthew "Peter" Ford, all of Miccosukee, FL; four sisters-in-law: Rose Standfield, Danville, VA, Helen Lamb-Jett, Columbus, SC, Wilhelmena Lamb, Newburgh, NY, Helena Lamb, Syracuse, NY and Brenda Eason of Fairburn GA; special friends: Floyd "Buddy" Lewis, James Toliver, Eddie Fleming, James Stevens, Jasper Glenn, Theresa Monroe, Shelia Williams, Maxine Moody, John Cooper, Ronnie Harris and many more along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
