It is with heartfelt sympathy we announce the passing of Mr. James Anthony Vaughn, 61, of Tallahassee, Florida, who departed this earthly life on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE CHAPEL (850-942-1950).
Funeral Services will be 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2026, in the Tillman of Tallahassee Chapel.
The Interment will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2026, in the Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, Florida 32311.

The Life and Legacy of our Beloved Veteran
James Anthony Vaughn
James Anthony Vaughn was the beloved son of James Vaughn and Martha Anderson, both who preceded James Anthony in death. He was born in Tallahassee, Florida on December 22, 1964. He was also predeceased by his sister: Spring Vaughn and grandparents: R. L. and Mamie Burgess Vaughn and Louis and Annie Lee Woodberry Anderson.
James Anthony grew up in Tallahassee where he attended public school. He was a 1982 graduate of James S. Rickards High School. Shortly after graduation, he volunteered to enlist into the United States Army where he remained for over three years. During his tour of active duty, he served as an Equipment Record Specialist, and he was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, the Professional Development Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon.
James Anthony continued his education on-line at the University of Phoenix from which he received his associate degree.
In his leisure time, James Anthony enjoyed bowling and fishing. He also was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan who proudly displayed the team’s colors and paraphernalia.
A 100% disabled veteran, for a number of years, James Anthony was a resident of the Veterans Village Apartment complex.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, James Anthony Vaughn went Home to live with the Lord. His love and legacy will rest forever in the hearts of his children: Demario Holden and Janaye Vaughn; grandchildren: Jaden Vaughn, Jayla Footman and Jurnee Vaughn, all of Atlanta, GA; nephews: Marcus Anderson, Mario Anderson and Darryl Jackson; sister: Vanessa L. Anderson of Tallahassee, FL; and several nieces, other relatives and loving friends.
It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Vaughn and to serve the Vaughn family.
