Obituary

Jane Arica Anesta Nicholas, passed away September 13, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Liberta Village, Antigua on July 24, 1951. She moved to St. Croix, US Virgin Islands at sixteen and finally settled in Tallahassee, Florida in the late 1970's.

She had a wonderful career in the food service industry, where she never met a stranger and made so many lifelong friends. She served many of us at the Department of Financial Services and the Department of Education.

Jane was an avid gardener, bringing to life everything from roses to lemongrass that she would share with her friends. She was a great supporter of Habitat for Humanity, United Women in Faith, the United Methodist Children's Home, and her church.

She was a true disciple of Christ who enjoyed praising God at Calvary Methodist Church each week and her time with friends at Bible Study. She enjoyed her many adventures with the United Women in Faith and her time worshiping with other women.

Jane relished making new friends no matter if it was at work, the grocery store, the Cancer Center, or riding the bus. She was full of life and energy until her last, spreading joy wherever she went and showing others what it means to be a true daughter of faith.

Jane was preceded in death by her father Joshua Nicholas, mother Sarah Paul David, brothers David Wyie and Brannic Nicholas. She is survived by her daughter Jalancia Thomas, granddaughter Jakalia White, brothers Caswall "Rody" Wyie, Connie "Isiah" Nicholas, sisters Petronella Wyie David, Murna Nicholas Parker, Edline "Janet" Nicholas Parker, Mary Nichols "Eunice" Martin, Jerose Nicholas, honorary brother Jim Foos, honorary sister Pamela King and many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many other friends and family too numerous to mention.

A service to remember Jane will be held at New Life United Methodist Church. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Big Bend Habitat for Humanity.
