John Edward Pompey, 72, of Tallahassee passed on Monday, July 22, 2024. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Old West Enrichment Center, with burial in St. Paul AME Church. Per John's request, there will be no public viewing. A lifelong resident of Tallahassee, John was a 1969 Rickards High graduate. He was a gifted mechanic and car enthusiast. He was the retired Fleet Manager for Leon County Government and served as a Steward at St. Paul AME Church. Survivors include his devoted wife, Chrystle Little Pompey; son, Edward Pompey; grandson, Emorie Rashad Pompey; sisters: Bessie Lee, Gwendolyn Bell, Drucilla Reshard, Ella Richardson and Janice Hooks; brothers: Wayne (Dorothy), Johnny and Jackie Pompey, Clarence (Tamika) and Sylvester Hooks; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John's parents, Edward Pompey and Drucilla Reshard preceded him in death.
