Joseph Louis Slater, 82, of Crawfordville passed on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Mt. Olive P.B. Church # 1, Crawfordville, with burial in the Church Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 4-6 p.m. Tuesday (Today) at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE (850-942-1950). Mr. Slater was a graduate of Shadeville High School and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a retired supervisor for St. Marks Powder Plant (General Dynamics) and served faithfully as a Deacon at Mt. Olive. He enjoyed farming. Survivors include his wife of almost 50 years, Hilly Donaldson Slater; son, Kareem (Celeste) and Kenneth Slater; daughters: Margaret and Stephanie Thomas; brothers: Henry Jr. (Betty), Rufus (Crystal) and Charles Slater and Donald (Leila) Gavin; sisters; Beany Slater and Sheryl S. (Andre) Brown; sisters-in-law: Hattie and Sheila Slater; and a host of other relatives and friends.
