It is with loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Mr. Joseph Starling, Jr, age 65, of Lamont, Florida, who departed this earthly life on Sunday, Oct 3, 2025.
Homegoing Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2025, at Tillman Of Tallahassee Chapel, 4006 Crawfordville Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32304, with the Interment to follow in Mt. OliveCemetery, Lamont, Florida 32336.
JOSEPH "DOCK" STARLING, JR. was born on May 22, 1960 at Florida Agriculture and Mechanical Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida to Joseph Sr. and Aletha Starling. JOSEPH was preceded in death by his father and sister, Joyce Starling Huewitt.
JOSEPH attended Greenville Training School in Madison County, Florida. He enlisted un the United States Army for four years, followed by a career dedicated to truck driving over-the-road for more than 20 years until his retirement. JOSEPH had a gift for traveling the world and supporting his family. Outside of being on the road, he enjoyed cooking/grilling, spending time with family, entertaining friends, hunting and watching sports or a good movie. He faced life's challenges with grit, tenacity and unwavering faith.
JOSEPH accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior early in life. He brightened every room he entered with his smile. JOSEPH lived with joy, hope, and compassion. His kindness touched the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. JOSEPH will be remembered for his confidence, courage, and contagious laughter. He taught by example that love is shown not only in words, but in the small, thoughtful acts we do for one another. His life was a testament of resilience.
On Friday, October 3, 2025, God set JOSEPH free from suffering and sleeping in his earthly body to resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus.
JOSEPH leaves cherishing memories to his son: Brian Thompson of Atlanta, GA; daughters: Claudia Starling and Alicia Starling, both of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Ava and Zoey Thompson; mother: Aletha Starling; nieces: Letitia Crumity and Kenyata Frazier, both of Tallahassee, FL; and a host of other relatives and loving friends.
