It is with heartfelt sympathy, we announce the passing of Ms. LaTonya K. Austin Young , age 59, of Tallahassee, Florida, who departed this earthly life on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2026, at the TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE CHAPEL (850-942-1950) .

LaTonya Kay Austin Young was born on February 6, 1967, to her parents, Wilbert Austin and Dorothy Hall, making her grand entrance on her father's birthday. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Herbert and Essie Mae Austin; maternal grandmother: Cora Dixon; and beloved aunts: Brenda Hall and Shirlene Jordan.
Affectionally called "Tonya" by her loved ones, she was surely one of God's greatest blessings from the start. Tonya was a social butterfly; with a heart of gold, always making friends everywhere she went and giving love unconditionally. She had a smile and beauty that would light up a room and an energy that was contagious. At an early age, Tonya showed interest in the arts; she loved writing, photography and fashion, but most of all, she loved people.
Tonya attended Leon County Public Schools and went on to obtain a Certification as a Nursing Assistant from Lively Technical College while studying at Tallahassee Community College. As a young mother to four children, Tonya is remembered as a loving and affectionate mom who instilled God in her children from birth. She knew and loved God on an intimate level, so much so that her children grew to admire God just the same as she gave her life to Christ at a young age. Tonya devoted her life to caring for others, one specifically being her now-late grandmother Essie Austin in the final years of her life until her transition to be with God. Tonya was thoughtful and loving in her ways, living a life in hopes that it would be pleasing to God.
Tonya's journey through life reflected perseverance, love and unwavering dedication to those she knew and cared for, especially her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, faith, and unforgettable memories that will continue to live in the hearts of her family, friends and all who knew her.
On March 14, 2026, our Heavenly Father went to His garden of life and picked one of His most beautiful and precious flowers that had bloomed to her peak and her time to harvest had come. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the time we shared, the lessons she taught us, and the love she gave so freely. Tonya's love and legacy will live on in the hearts of her loving children, son: Darryl Davis, Jr.; daughters: Jasmine Davis, Ayonna (Kelvin) Whitaker and Tabitha Davis; cherished grandchildren: Christopher Cruz, Jr., Bernardi Williams, Zariah Griffin, Bercari Williams, Kyrie Whitaker, Messiah Williams, Kelis Whitaker and Keyonna Whitaker; her father: Wilbert (Maryann) Austin; mother: Dorothy J. Hall; sisters: Lawanda Austin, Shannon (Brenton) Hudson and Shauna Austin; brothers: General L. Mitchell and Vernon Austin; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Ms. Young and to serve the Young Family.
