Leroy Beasley Jr, 82, resided in Atlanta, GA passed away on May 26,2025. Funeral services are 12:00 noon Friday, June 13th at Hilaman Country Club Conference Center located at 2737 Blair Stone Rd.; Tallahassee, FL. Viewing and visitation is 4-6 pm on Thursday at Tillman Funeral Home located at 4006 Crawfordville Rd.; Tallahassee, FL 32305. Interment will follow services at 2pm at Tallahassee National Cemetery.
Born and raised in Tallahassee, Leroy was a life- long Rattler who bled Orange and Green, as he attended Lucy Moton for elementary through high school and graduated from FAMU High in 1960, as class president. In the same year he and his teammates won the Northern State B Basketball Championship as well. He went on to attend the University, Florida A&M, on a Basketball Scholarship as he studied and earned his Bachelor Degree in 1964 from the School of Business in Accounting.
Upon graduating he began his career with the United State Office of Inspector General (OIG), July 19, 1965. Leroy was the first of two blacks hired at United States Department of Agriculture USDA/OIG in Atlanta. He was drafted while employed into the United States Army, October 19th 1965. Leroy became the first black to be promoted to Supervisory Auditor of the Southeast Region while employed with USDA, where he retired after 33 years of service.
He is survived by his son, Leroy Allen Beasley, daughter Nicole (Nic) Williams and four grands – Leroy, Elijah, and Malachi Beasley, and Nicholas Culp; two brothers Master Sargent Nathaniel Scott, USAF Retired (Debra) and Capt. Ronald Beasley, USN Retired (Yvette); and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Cicely Reeves Beasley; his parents, Leroy and Toreather Harris Beasley; brother, Lawrence Beasley; sisters Shenezia Beasley Rivers, and Inesta Beasley Johnson.
