Obituary

It is with heartfelt sympathy, we announce the passing of Mr. Levy Colson , age 88, of Tallahassee, Florida, who departed this earthly life on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2026, at the TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE CHAPEL (850-942-1950) .

Homegoing Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2026, at St. Phillip A.M.E. Church, 6200 Centerville Road, Tallahassee, FL 32309, with the interment to follow in the Church Cemetery.

Levy "Buddy" Colson was born on August 17, 1937, in Leon County, Florida, to Robert and Sarah Clack Colson. He was the youngest of ten children. He was preceded in death by his children: Angela Colson, Zelda Colson, Sharita Thomas-Sims, and Levy Colson, Jr.; his parents; and several beloved siblings.

Levy was educated in the Leon County School System and accepted Christ at an early age. He became a devoted member of St. Phillip African Methodist Episcopal Church, where his faith remained a guiding force throughout his life.

A hardworking and self-made man, Levy built a respected reputation in Leon County and surrounding areas for his skills in painting and concrete finishing. Known for doing things the right way, he took great pride in his work and the legacy he created with his hands.

Beyond his work, Levy was known for his warm personality and genuine love for people. He never met a stranger and had a special way of making everyone feel welcome. His smile, sense of humor, and kind spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Levy was a devoted family man who cherished the life he built and the people he loved. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether sharing stories, playing cards, or simply enjoying each other's company.

On the evening of Saturday, April 18, 2026, Levy "Buddy" Colson, 88, passed away peacefully in Tallahassee, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters: Trella (Karl) Lofton (caregiver), Marilyn (Jerry) Colson, and Yashira Colson; his former wife and caregiver: Marie Woody Colson; 14 grandchildren: Laketra Lofton, Carlos Lofton, Alicia Harris, Kelvin Harris, Tremain Harris, Marcus Harris, Justin Maul, Jeremy Maul, Brittany Biviens, Lageia Biviens, Bejurn Biviens, Ansel Biviens, Duane Thomas and Prezence Colson; 20 great-grandchildren; sister: Ollie Colson-Turner; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Levy's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Colson and to serve the Colson Family.
