Obituary

It is with loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Ms. Lexie Mae Bethea , age 75, of Tallahassee, Florida, who departed this life on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Viewing-visitation will be 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2026, at the TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE CHAPEL (850-942-1950) .

Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Mt. Pisgah AME Church, 256 Fairbanks Ferry Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312.

Lexie Mae Bethea was born to Arthur Lee Vickers and Pinkie Bee Hayes-Vickers on October 18, 1950. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Pinkie Vickers and siblings Cleveland Vickers, Jerry Vickers, Mabel Vickers, Madean Monroe.

Lexie accepted Christ at an early age, becoming a member of Mt. Pisgah African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was educated in the Leon County public school systems and grew to work as a nurse for many years before transitioning to be a phone operator for Sprint/Centel until her retirement. She was known for her witty and strong personality, personally and professionally. Lexie always made ways to get things done and be of service to others.

Lexie Mae was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She lived a life filled with love, fishing, cooking, partying, therapeutic landscaping and nurturing others.

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026 Lexie peacefully went to be with her "Sweet Jesus", surrounded by family. Her love and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of her children: Shonda Jackson, Eric Jackson, both of Tallahassee, FL; four grandchildren: Gabriele Jackson, Tallahassee, FL, Devene (Samantha) Jones, Atlanta, GA, Zana (Oscar) Henriquez and India (Jah-que) Roberts, both of Tallahassee, FL; eight great-grandchildren; siblings: Robert Lee (Stella) Vickers, Sr., Tallahassee, FL, Vernell (Augusta Sr.) Gaines, Trenton, NJ and Nettie Vickers of Tallahassee, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and associates.

It is our profound honor to have been entrusted with the care of Ms. Bethea and to serve the Jackson/Jones Family.
