Linwood Jose Byrd, 75, finished his earthly course on Friday, August 9, 2024. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17, at Bethel M.B. Church, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pensacola, FL. Viewing is 4-6 p.m. Friday at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE (850-942-1950). A Washington, DC native, Linwood came to Tallahassee to attend Florida A&M University. He worked as a Florida State Corrections Officer for over 35 years, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was a devoted member of Bethel for more than 25 years. Linwood was predeceased by his daughter, Lanita Byrd Williams. His love and legacy will be cherished forever by his loving wife, Faybrena Walker-Byrd; bonus children: Shawnta (Mario) Thomas, Gloria (Kenneth) Hines, Stanley Jr. (Cheryl) and Shannon Walker; several grand and great-grandchildren; special grandson, Jordan Scott; nephews: George and William Byrd and Angel Rodriguez; sisters-in-law: Millie Moon, Vivian Jenkins and Peggy Milledge; brothers-in-law: Jerry (Lisa) and Oliver Jenkins; devoted brother-in-law/friend, Robert Hendrieth and countless friends he met along life's pathway.
