Louis Franklin Mitchell, 75, of Monticello, FL peacefully departed this life on Thursday, January 9, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late Lilla B. Mitchell and the late A.D. Mitchell. His funeral services were 11:00 Saturday, January 18, at Elizabeth Dills M.B. Church, with burial in Elizabeth Bradley Cemetery. A 1967 graduate of Jefferson High School, Louis worked an array of jobs before embarking on a professional truck driving career. The road was his passion and his livelihood. His career took a major turn when he became a successful Road Construction Technician, which he worked for several years before retiring. He was a loving husband to his wife, Verdell Mitchell, and a proud father to his son, Travis (Candice) Mitchell and daughter, Jacqueline McKinney. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was a brother to Willie Mitchell and to his sisters: Gloria Scurry, Retha Ford Walker, Mathotianna Ruby (Arthur) Dunlap and Vivian Mitchell. He also leaves behind a wealth of nieces, nephews, friends, aunts, uncles and other relatives.
