Margie B. Carter was woman of immeasurable faith, wisdom, and deeply devoted to her family, faith, and friends. Margie Carter was born on November 5, 1938, in Panama City, Florida. She was the beloved daughter of Tump and Nina Long. Margie was predeceased by her beloved parents; and her three siblings: Emory Long, Pearl Long, and Queen Evelyn Long Marshall.
Margie graduated from Florida A&M University in 1960 and dedicated 40 years of service to the university. She retired in 1997 as an Executive Assistant at the College of Pharmacy. She served as Church Secretary at Springhill Road Church of Christ for a span of three decades. Additionally, she served over a span of 50 years as a Notary Public and Avon Representative.
Known for her gentle soul, Margie had a unique gift for making everyone feel welcomed and loved. A proud supporter of the Rattlers, she dedicated her time to the College of Pharmacy with a servant's heart. An exceptional cook, she delighted in hosting dinners for a multitude of family and friends.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, gardening, and staying abreast of current events. Her truest treasure was nurturing her children– instilling in them a foundation of kindness, character and faith. Margie's greatest joy was seeing all of her children and grandchildren earn their Bachelor's degrees. Margie's legacy continues through her three beloved children: Siouxniqua Smith, Taurus (Kai) Jones and Larron (Francheska) Jones; her three treasured grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Ms. Carter and to serve the Carter Family.
