Evangelist Dr. Mary Louise Mitchell Goban, 74, of Tallahassee finished her earthly course, surrounded by her loving family at home, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Her Homecoming service will be 12:00 noon Wednesday, December 18, at the Old West Florida Enrichment Center, with Interment following at Saint Peter Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation will occur 4pm to 6pm, Tuesday at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE (850-942-1950). A Tallahassee native, Dr. Goban was a 1968 graduate of Leon High School. She later earned her associates degree from Tallahassee Community College and pursued further studies at Florida A&M University and Florida State University. After accepting her calling to the Ministry, she earned a theological doctorate from Faith Bible Institute. Dr. Goban was an accomplished pianist and vocalist and was a member of Mt. Horeb Primitive Baptist Church where she directed the choirs. Dr. Goban served as pianist and Minister of Music for 60 years. Professionally, she's served in various capacities supporting students at the Florida State University, retiring in 1997 in the Office of the President. In her leisure time, she enjoyed creative writing, song and play writing and crafts and quality family time. Among her survivors are her loving daughter, Lyn Doby Stanfield (Kevin); devoted son, Darren Goban; grandchildren: Kameryn Stanfield and Chris Stanfield; mother, Mrs. Ethel Rush Mitchell; brothers: James Jr. and Herman Mitchell; sisters: Juanita Mitchell Colzie (Richard), Veronica Mitchell Greene and Miriam Mitchell. Numerous other loving relatives and friends also survive her. Mary's father, James Mitchell, Sr., and her sister, Gail Mitchell preceded her to Glory.
