Mother Mary Janie Smith Rollins, 83, born in Gainesville, FL, passed in Tallahassee on Thursday, August 10, 2023. A Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 19, at the Old West Enrichment Center. Burial will be next to her beloved husband of 54 years, Elder Ezekiel M. Rollins at Greenwood Cemetery. Viewing will be 4-6 p.m. Friday at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE (850-942-1950). Mary Janie was born to Horace Smith and Isabella Young Smith on December 25, 1939. She was a 1956 graduate of Gainesville's Lincoln High School and furthered her education at Miami Dade College. She worked over 20 years as a paraprofessional at Eustis Heights Elementary School with the Lake County School Board. As the Pastor's wife, she faithfully served over 30 years at two Primitive Baptist churches (Mt. Zion, Eustis, FL and Shady Grove, Gainesville, FL). Mother Rollins was also preceded in death by her son, Gregory Rollins; and brothers: Leevant (Lucille), Harvey Sr., Calvin and Roosevelt Smith. She leaves to cherish precious memories her sons: Elder Major E. (Gwendolyn) Rollins, Jr., Jeffrey (Genefer), Cory and Charles (Felicia - deceased) Rollins; daughter, Mildred Rollins Black; daughter-in-law, Deadre Rollins; and sisters-in-law: Fannie and Cheryl Smith.
