Michael Albert "Mickey" Clayton, 71, of Tallahassee passed unexpectedly on Monday, August 25, 2025. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30, at New Mt. Zion AME Church, Tallahassee. Viewing-visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Friday at Tabernacle M.B. Church. Born in Jacksonville, Mickey was a graduate of Merritt Island High School (1971). He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from his beloved Florida A&M University. Mickey's entire career was spent at FAMU in various capacities: Director, Student Activities; Head Coach, Women's Basketball; Head Coach, Men's Basketball; Compliance Officer, University Athletics and Director, FAMU Boosters. Coach Clayton was a devout member of New Mt. Zion, a FAMU Hall-of-FAMER and a loyal member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Coach Clayton's love and legacy will be preserved forever by his loving wife, Barbara Joyce Calloway Clayton; doting daughters: Tiffany (Donte) Hudson, Deneatra G. Wilson, Myah C. (Joseph) Morgan, Mikki Clayton and Milan C. (Andonte) Gennie; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers: Craig (Jennifer) and Kevin Clayton; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
