It is with heavy hearts, yet with the blessed hope found in Christ, that we announce the passing of Pastor Ella Mae Hampton, 77, of Greenville, Florida, who departed this earthly life on Monday, June 15, 2026.

Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 3, 2026, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 154 SW Ray Charles Avenue, Greenville, FL 32331.

Homegoing Services will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 4, 3026, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 154 SW Ray Charles Avenue, Greenville, FL 32331, with burial to follow in Wigginsville Community Cemetery.

The Life, Love, and Legacy of Pastor Ella Mae Harris Hampton

Earthly life for Ella Mae Harris Hampton began in Greenville, Florida on May 15, 1949. She was the daughter of David Harris, Sr. and Elouise Stephens Harris. Both of her parents, as well as her husband: Vernon Hampton, Jr.; brother: David Harris, Jr; and her stepchildren: Lola, Shirley and Ray Hampton, all preceded her in death.

Ella Mae grew up in her native Greenville where she attended public school, graduating from Greenville Training School. Following high school, she worked various jobs until she secured employment with Madison County Schools. After a long and productive career as a highly respected custodian, Ella retired with distinction. During her tenure, she received her calling to preach God’s Word. For over 30 years, she served faithfully as the pastor and shepherd of Mt. Pleasant Holiness Church in Greenville.

Other than preaching and ensuring the well-being of her church and its parishioners, Ella could be found about town always in the company of her grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally.

She also enjoyed singing and driving to various events. Approximately two years ago, Pastor Hampton’s health began to decline and following a gallant battle with her illness, on Monday, June 15, 2026, Pastor Ella Mae Harris Hampton went Home to be with the Lord.

Her love and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of her sons: Timothy (Vanessa) Williams and James (Katrina) Hampton, all of Madison, FL and Vernon (Trenda) Hampton III of Jasper, FL; daughters: Juanita Hampton and Stephanie H. (Kenneth) Mattair, all of Madison, FL and Darlene H. (Thaddeus) Pringles and Linda Hampton, all of Ocala, FL; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister: Hattie Mae Campbell of Orlando, FL; sisters-in-law: Mary Alice Harris, Orlando, FL, Eloise Campbell and Julie Ann Hampton; brother-in-law: Ruben (Kathleen) Hampton; a good friend who was like a daughter: Rose Conway; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.

It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Pastor Hampton and to serve the Hampton family.
