Born Wednesday, October 28, 1942, in Madison, Florida, God blessed the now-late Nathaniel Morgan and the now-late Kathleen Wilson-Morgan with a beautiful daughter, Nancy Morgan. From humble beginnings in a close-knit community, Nancy's life would become a testimony of faith, perseverance, entrepreneurship, and service to others.

Nancy was educated in the Madison County School System and graduated from Madison High School in 1960. She later continued her education at Madison Community College, where she earned an Associate of Arts degree in Business in 1962. With a desire to expand her opportunities, she transferred to Florida A&M University, intending to pursue a bachelor's degree. However, recognizing the gift that God had placed in her hands, Nancy chose to dedicate herself fully to the craft that had been shaping her since childhood—sewing.

Nancy learned to sew in the 1950s as a young girl. What began as a practical skill soon became a lifelong calling. After relocating to Tallahassee, Florida in 1960, she steadily built a reputation for excellence in alterations and garment construction. Her hands were precise, her eyes were discerning, and her work spoke for itself. She worked in various alterations departments throughout the city, mastering her trade and quietly preparing for something greater.

In 1989, with courage and unwavering faith, Nancy stepped out on her own and opened Nancy's Alterations in the heart of Tallahassee, just off North Monroe Street. Positioned along one of the city's busiest corridors, her shop quickly became a trusted staple in the community. For nearly three decades, Nancy served generations of customers—ensuring they looked their very best for weddings, graduations, church services, proms, military ceremonies, and life's many milestones. Her business was not just a storefront; it was a place where care, excellence, and pride in workmanship were stitched into every garment.

Nancy faithfully operated her business until her retirement in 2018, leaving behind a legacy of entrepreneurship, integrity, and self-sufficiency. She was a true example of what it means to build something with your own hands and sustain it through dedication and grace.

But Nancy's talents extended far beyond the sewing machine. From the age of seven, she demonstrated a gift in the kitchen. A skilled cook and baker, Nancy mastered a wide range of cuisines and baked goods. She found joy in feeding others, believing that a well-fed heart was just as important as a well-dressed one. Whether through a warm meal, a sweet dessert, or a carefully altered garment, Nancy expressed love through service. She also possessed a nurturing spirit, later becoming a skilled nursing specialist, where she extended her care beyond family and friends to those in need of compassion and attentive support.

Nancy was a woman of many interests. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching westerns and soap operas, and had a deep love for football. In 1964, she proudly became a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, faithfully supporting her team through every season. Her favorite player was the legendary "Bullet" Bob Hayes, and she never missed an opportunity to reminisce about his speed and skill on the field.

She loved the color blue and enjoyed listening to various genres of music. Nancy embraced life with curiosity and openness, appreciating different cultures, foods, and experiences. Her broad interests reflected a heart that was welcoming and a spirit that was vibrant.

Above all, Nancy loved her family. On January 29, 1971, she gave birth to her only child, Linson Cedrick Franklin, in Tallahassee, Florida. Their bond was one of deep devotion. Linson, a United States Navy Veteran, faithfully and lovingly served as her caregiver in her later years—a reflection of the strength, love, and values she instilled in him.

Nancy was preceded in death by her nephew, Alan Johnson of Pompano Beach, Florida; a brother-in-law, Cleveland Williams of Pompano Beach, Florida. She leaves to cherish her memory, her only child, son: Linson Cedric Franklin of Tallahassee, a United States Navy Veteran, who was also her caregiver; one sister: Martha Morgan-Williams of Pompano Beach, FL; a host of loving family members of the Pompano Beach, Florida area: niece, Aletrice Mann; nephew, Arthur Mann; niece, Vicki Clark; nephew, Anthony Williams; niece, Priscilla Mann; nephew, Gary Boyd, II; and niece, Adrienne Clark. In addition, Nancy had many close friends of the Tallahassee and other Florida areas: Jean Whittaker; Roosevelt and Mae Frances Holloman; Larry Sassano; Seven Hills attendants, Virginia, Frida, Aquilla, and Brenda; the Vitas Healthcare Hospice nurses and Chaplain, with whom she shared a bond; and a host of extended family members, friends, former clients, and community members whose lives were enriched by her kindness, craftsmanship, and quiet strength.

Nancy's life reminds us that greatness does not always announce itself loudly. Sometimes, it is found in steady hands, faithful service, strong work ethic, and a heart committed to doing things well. She clothed many, fed many, cared for many, and loved deeply.

"Well done, thy good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23

Her work here is finished, but her legacy is stitched into the fabric of the community she served and the family she cherished.

It is our profound honor to have been entrusted with the care of Ms. Morgan and to serve the Morgan Family.
