It is with heartfelt sympathy, we announce the passing of Mr. Octavian D. Henderson , 53, of Miramar, Florida, who departed this earthly life on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
At the request of the Henderson Family, there will be no public viewing.
Homegoing Services for Mr. Octavian D. Henderson will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church, 3727 Woodville Hwy, Tallahassee, FL 32305, with the interment concluding in Oakland Cemetery, 838 N. Bronough Street, Tallahassee, FL 32303.
Octavian Devonshia Henderson
, affectionately known as "Tave," was born on September 12, 1972, in Tallahassee, Florida, to the late Elvin Henderson and Dorothy Kelly Thomas.
Octavian attended Bond Elementary School in Tallahassee, Florida, and later relocated to Miami, Florida, where he attended Miami Sunset Senior High School, graduating with the Class of 1990.
Octavian was a devoted father, loyal friend, and a man who deeply loved his family and sports. He had a true passion for mentoring and helping others, especially youth. During his career, he served as a Facility Director at Bay Point Schools North, where he worked with at-risk youth and made a meaningful impact on many lives. In addition, Octavian worked part-time as a Loss Prevention Officer at Kmart.
His professional career later continued with Marriott International, where he held various roles including Loss Prevention Officer at Marriott Biscayne Bay, Supervisor at Marriott Stanton, and Director of Loss Prevention at Marriott Airport Connection. His dedication, leadership, and strong work ethic were evident throughout his career.
On January 15, 2026, Octavian was called home to be with his Lord and Savior.
Octavian leaves behind cherished memories with those who loved him and will miss him dearly. He is survived by his sons, Tavon J. Henderson and Keith E. Kelly; his goddaughter, Jasmine Dupre; his sister, Chandra Thomas; his stepfather, Earnest Thomas; his fiancé, Tracey McCarthy; his special cousin, Leonard Martin III; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends who were all near and dear to his heart.
It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Henderson and to serve the Henderson Family.
