Ralph Hall,

September 21, 1950 – June 1, 2020
RALPH HALL, SR. was born in Tallahassee, Florida on September 21, 1950. He was the son of William Hall, Sr. and Rosa Mae Jones Davis. RALPH'S step-father, Ed Davis, played a pivotal and positive role in his life and Ralph often spoke fondly of him. Each of RALPH'S parents preceded him to Glory. He also was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mary Roberts Hall; son, James Wilson, Jr.; siblings, William Hall, Jr. and James Robert Jones, Elease O'Neil and Amanda Hall Gasque. RALPH'S grandmothers, Ida Hall, who raised him and Margaret Adams, were great influencers in his life. Both of them also preceded RALPH in death.
RALPH grew up in his native Tallahassee, attending the public schools of Leon County. He was a 1968 graduate of the original Lincoln (Lincoln Griffin) High School. Following graduation, he moved to New Jersey where he worked on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. While there, he was drafted into the military where he remained on active duty status for 12 years. He served in combat during the Vietnam War. Upon being honorably discharged, he worked several years as an officer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee. Following this, he moved to Miami where he worked for over 20 years at the Port of Miami as a Longshoreman. As a Longshoreman, he was affiliated with Local 1416. He would then retire and move to rural Live Oak, Florida where he became an urban cowboy, raising cattle and other livestock.
During his leisure, RALPH enjoyed chess, card games, dominoes, fishing and farming. He was multi- talented and played the saxophone and dabbled in drawing various art. RALPH also was a true entrepreneur, working as a bail bondsman and auto sales broker. A man with a tender heart, RALPH volunteered countless hours with Miami's United Way as a counselor in its U Can Program. He also had been active with American Legion Post #133 and Prince Hall Masons.
In recent months, RALPH experienced a debilitating illness that ultimately contributed to his passing on Monday, June 1, 2020.
