J" Johnson

Raymond "Ray J" Johnson, 85, finished his earthly course on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Old West Enrichment Center, with burial following in the Tallahassee National Cemetery. Viewing is 4-6 p.m. Thursday (Today) at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE (850-942-1950). A 1959 graduate of the original Lincoln High School, Mr. Johnson was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was the State of Florida's First Black Driver's License Examiner. He retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service. He was active in Prison Ministry, organic gardening and was a professional fly fisherman. His love and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of his wife of 58 years, Mattie Attwell Johnson; daughters: Tonya Johnson and Ramona (Roosevelt Jr.) Lanier; sons: Jason and Derek (Ciara) Johnson; grandchildren: Chauncey and Jaden Lanier and Derek Jr. and Deionte Johnson; sisters: Winifred McClenton, Rebecca Johnson, Theresa Duval, Pauline Cotton, Kathy Williams and Phyllis (John) Henry; and a host of other relatives and friends.
