The Life and Legacy of our Beloved

Raymond Howard Jackson, Sr.

Raymond Howard Jackson, Sr. was the beloved son of JC Jackson and Leona Burney Jackson. He was born in Edison, Georgia on June 22, 1946. He was the fourth child of ten children born to JC and Leona, both who preceded him in death.

Raymond, who was lovingly called, “BOBO”, was also predeceased by his son: David Neely; grandsons: Raymond K. Jackson and Christopher D. Jackson; and his brothers: Albert, JW and Jimmy Jackson.

At the age of 12, Raymond’s parents moved their family from Edison to Tallahassee, Florida. Raymond continued his education in the Leon County School System, where he left during his last year of high school to enter the workforce full-time.

Shortly after reaching adulthood, Raymond met and married the former Letha Mae Duval. The two were married for more than 55 years. To support his family, Raymond worked as a Maintenance Technician for over 45 years for the Florida Department of Transportation. He also worked nights as a Custodian for James Brown Janitorial Service.

In his leisure, “BOBO” enjoyed muscle car drag-racing and talking on his CB radio. He was a member of the Screaming Eagles CB Club where his call handle was “Cannonball”. In years past, he had been active in the Masonic Lodge (Prince Hall) in Waukeenah.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, July 5, 2026, the Lord Almighty summoned Raymond Howard Jackson, Sr. to join Him in that land of pure delight where the saint’s immortal reign.

He leaves to cherish precious memories, a devoted wife of 56 years: Letha Duval Jackson; three sons: William Neely, Kenneth Jackson and Raymond Jackson, Jr.; two daughters: Earnestine Nealy and Kisha Jackson; grandchildren: Isaiah Jeune, Herbert Jeune, Teliya Richardson, Shibria Neely, Felicia Richards, Jerome Neely and Jerome Nealy; great-grandchildren: Malia Huggins, Rylin Ervin and Ivonté Andrews; one brother: Amaziah (Gwen) Jackson; five sisters: Mary (Harold) Gaines, Vetennar (Eugene) Austin, Virginia Thompson, Carolyn (Elijah) Sharpe and Rose (Bobby) Knight, all of Tallahassee, FL: and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.

It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Jackson and to serve the Jackson family.
