It is with utmost respect, we announce the passing of God's Servant, The Reverend Bethel Ransom , age 75, of Monticello, Florida, who departed this earthly life on Monday, March 23, 2026.

Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Sweetfield Missionary Baptist Church, 3679 Old Lloyd Road, Monticello, FL 32344.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 3, 2026, at Greater Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 690 Cypress Street, Monticello, FL 32344, with the interment concluding in Oakfield Cemetery, 2464 Waukeenah Hwy, Monticello, FL 32344.

REVEREND BETHEL RANSOM , a man of many words and talents was born in Monticello, Florida to Deacon Ben Ransom and Mother Henrietta Nelson Ransom on August 29, 1950. Reverend Ransom was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Reverend Robert Madison, Reverend Joseph Nelson, Sarah Ransom Byford and Hannah Ransom.

Educated in Jefferson County, Reverend Ransom was a proud member of Howard Academy's graduating class of 1969. He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and became a member of Sweetfield Missionary Baptist Church where he was active in the Choir and other areas prior to his ministry call.

Reverend Ransom married his loving wife of 54 years, the former Lillian Reddick in December 1971 and was blessed with three children. He worked several years in the trucking industry as well as farming, planting watermelons and raising cattle.

Reverend Ransom was called, licensed and ordained as a minister of the Gospel in 1976. His journey was a pastor began in the mid 1980's as pastor of Young Reaper Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, Florida until 2005. He was most recently serving as pastor of First Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Quitman, Georgia where he loved the members as must as they loved him.

Left to cherish memories of Reverend Bethel Ransom are his wife: Lillian Reddick Ransom; daughter: Nikki Ransom Trammell; sons: Bethel Bernard (Arnitra) Ransom and Minister Va'Shon (Keshia) Ransom; his beloved grandchildren: Mya Trammell, Taelyn Ransom, Jaden Williams, Kyler Ransom, Khloe Ransom, Kylie Ransom, Hudson Rivers, Lindsey Harris and Shontavia Huggins; siblings: Reverend James Thompson, Reverend Ben Ransom, Jr., Jacob (Emma) Nelson, Dr. Ann Reddick, Henrietta (Robert) Barnes, Dwanda (James) Skipworth; mother-in-law: Mother Julia Reddick Jenkins; brothers-in-law: Franklin Reddick, Jerry Reddick, Herbert (Dinetha) Reddick, Jospeh (Tonya) Reddick, Reverend Charles V. Reddick, Reverend Tony (Gloria) Graham; sisters-in-law: Leola (Eric) McCloud, Lucile Reddick and Geraldine (Reverend Samuel) Maxwell; aunts: Mother Jessie Saunders, Mother Louvenia Reddick and Mary Delaughter; an uncle: Herman Lockett, Sr.; goddaughters: Alexandria Saahir and Jakaylia Jelks; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and church family.

It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Reverend Ransom and to serve the Ransom Family.
