ROBERT JAMES EVANS
was a man ahead of time in many regards; a trailblazer and one was a fierce advocate for doing what's right. Robert was a Greenville, Florida native and was blessed to have attended the original Greenville Training School.

Robert was born in Greenville on December 22, 1949 to John Evans and Mildred Smith Evans. He was blessed to celebrate 76 years of earthly life.

From his early years, Robert was regarded as a caring man with high aspirations. Prior to completing his high school education, Robert dropped out of high school. However, not long afterwards, he returned to school to attain his diploma, given that society had begun demanding proof of education.

Robert lived in Jacksonville, Florida for many years. He was a high achiever and wanted the best out of life for him and his children. He established his own concrete finishing business and landscaping services. Working in this joint industry also afforded him the opportunity to legally check out the backyards of clients and potential clients. He was a connoisseur of vintage vehicles and over the years, most of his "barn finds" were made in backyards.

Robert also loved to help others. He volunteered to design, build and install the handicapped accessibility ramp at St. Matthews. He was in the process of building similar ramps for other churches in the area.

Following a fruitful career, Robert took advantage of his leisure time by fishing. Fishing was always his passion but as he aged, fishing became his priority.

On Saturday, February 14, 2026, Robert went Home to be with the Lord. His love and legacy will be treasured forever by his wife of 38 years: Sandra Irvin Evans of Greenville, FL; daughters: Charlotte (Rodney) Williams, Middleburg, FL and Lucinda Mincey of Jacksonville, FL; sons: David (Suk) Suggs and Robert (Sheila) Evans, Jr., all of Jacksonville, FL, Jesse (Sandy) Prevost and Robert (Shaylor) Prevost; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters: Ruby (Butch) Jefferson of Virginia, Johnnie Mae (Willie) King and Rose Harrison, both of Ft. Pierce, FL; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Evans and to serve the Evans Family.
